Taking notes from a video
- Open a new blank screen and minimise the PAPERSHOW window. Give one of your pupils the PAPERSHOW FOR TEACHERS book and the digital pen.
-
Play the video as usual (using Windows MediaPlayer for example) and ask your pupils to write down the key information in their books, including the pupil who has the PAPERSHOW kit.
-
After the video has been played, give the pupils a few minutes to organise their notes (bullet points, colours, notes, underlining, etc.) then open the PAPERSHOW window to show the work to all the class. Comment on the pupil’s notes, involving the whole class.
-
You can take the PAPERSHOW kit to complete/correct the exercise yourself, or have other pupils correct the work.
Note: A video can also be imported to PAPERSHOW and printed on PAPERSHOW FOR TEACHERS interactive paper, which allows you to write around the frame of the video and to pause the film.
Benefits:
- Individual note taking is transformed into collective note taking. Pupils then benefit from sharing their ideas and in the next lesson they all start from the same point of understanding.
-
The pupils no longer need to go up to the whiteboard which makes participation in class exercises less intimidating.
